Sidra’s Department of Health Informatics will lead the diffusion of analytics and innovation in the fields of Clinical, Research, Education and Operational Informatics.  In close partnership with the Supreme Council of Health, the Research Institutes of Qatar Foundation and the Universities within and outside Education City, the Department of Health Informatics will ensure that Clinical, Operational Educational and Research needs are met by the application of informatics for optimum patient outcome, operational decision making, innovation and research.  The Department of Health Informatics scope of services includes supporting PEARLPatient Electronically Accessible Record for Life:


Position Summary:

The Director is responsible for leading the analytics initiatives in the Department of Health Informatics.  These initiatives include developing process and outcome measures for the department, the Sidra Medical and Research Center operations and key clinical care, education and research missions.  The Director manages data governance and stewardship within the department and collaborates with the broader Enterprise Data Warehouse team.

The Director is a leading member of the health informatics department, representing the needs and requirements of the Sidra clinical community and staff, serving as an advocate, promoting the adoption and integration of information, information systems, and technology in clinical settings and practice. The Director works with members of clinical, operations, administration, education and research teams to ensure effective application of informatics for service delivery, performance management, innovation, education and research.

Job Specific Responsibilities:
  • Establish the Data Governance and clinical Information system Data Stewardship within the Department of Health Informatics to promote the data-driven nature of the Department.
  • Assisting in the collection, storage, sharing and reporting of the Department projects and associated presentations to members outside the Department 
  • Defining and articulating the Database requirements including database design, maintenance and reporting
  • Utilize all PEARL to provide data, support the Sidra organization to extract and use data for decision making, clinical care and other functions that support Sidra’s mission
  • Manage the Standards such as SNOMED CT, RxNORM, LOINC, ICD-10, CDISC used within PEARL for effective delivery of data analytics services and intra-system interoperability
  • Collaborate with enterprise data warehouse team to ensure effective delivery of data and information
  • Requirements gathering for the executive staff to support effective organizational decision making, innovation., KPI’s, dashboards and executive reporting
  • Academic and research support for access clinical data, taking into consideration patient privacy and protection as defined by the local Institutional Review Board, and ensuring adequate access and security of data.
    • Participates in and provides expert clinical informatics advice to senior clinical and management groups in the design and enhancement of clinical and management information systems to support excellence in patient care, education and research.
    • Chair the Data Analytics Council which is designed to review requests for data from PEARL,  prioritize requests from stakeholders and collect requirements on Departmental KPIs
    • Responsible for managing the performance and development of the clinical analytics specialists team.
    • Reviews analytics informatics trends, experiences and approaches, and develops organizational change, application and technical implementation strategies for the health informatics department.  Assists in the development of strategic and tactical plans for health informatics department.
    • Works in concert with Information Management to design, acquire, evaluate, integrate and implement new systems to support patient care, education and research activities and to enhance intervention appropriateness and reduce iatrogenic injury.
    • Develops and maintains effective relationships with clinical staff including physicians, nursing and allied health specific informatics vendors and solution suppliers.   
    • Participates yearly in informatics focused conferences (eg: Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Informatics Association Conferences and Cerner Healthcare Conference (CHC)) to represent Sidra, disseminate informatics knowledge and develop collaborative relationships with other academic health systems                                                                                                                          
    • Provides direct support to CHIO in goal of coordination and management of clinical informatics in an effort to improve service, quality of care and enhancement of health knowledge in conjunction with the strategic mission of Sidra.  Empowered to fulfill CHIO responsibilities and duties in the event of absence or concurrent obligations.




  • Masters degree in Data Analytics, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence or related field.
  • Doctoral level degree in Data Analytics, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence or related field, preferred


  • 7+ years application of Clinical Informatics experience including Data Governance, Data Stewardship and organizational change management

Certification and Licensure:

  • Registered Nurse or Registered Allied Health Professional ( in country of origin), Preferred

Job Specific Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge in the application of clinical informatics and it impacts health care processes, disease prevention, and health outcomes.

  • Extensive demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of clinical informatics in a range of clinical setting and the impacts on health care delivery and health outcomes and innovative solutions to maximise return on investment, preferred.

  • Good grasp of clinical work flow and enterprise modeling in both inpatient and outpatient settings and demonstrated experience with integrating with information systems and technology.

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of clinical practice in range of clinical settings and the integration of information systems and technology to enhance and improve practice, preferred.

  • Demonstrated strong leadership qualities with a mature sense of priorities and solid practical experience; demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of innovative solutions within the framework of informatics, clinical, technical and fiscal boundaries.

  • Strong management and leadership skills with experience in the challenges of delivering products on time and within budget. Demonstrated strong collaborative management style, creative thinking with high energy and enthusiasm to deliver high quality customer focused outcomes.
  •  High level conceptual and analytical skills, and demonstrated ability to foster a culture of learning and innovation
  • Demonstrated advanced computer and information literacy ( at level of International Computer Drivers License Advanced or equivalent) 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
