Medical Informatics leads diffusion and innovation in the fields of Clinical, Research, Education and Operational Informatics.  In close partnership with the Supreme Council of Health, the Research Institutes of Qatar Foundation and the Universities within and outside Education City, Medical Informatics ensures that Clinical, Operational, Educational and Research needs are met by the application of information systems for optimum patient outcome, operational decision making, innovation and discovery.  The Medical Informatics scope of services includes the Clinical Information System, branded CERNER

Job Summary:

The Educator – Clinical Informatics works collaboratively to design, develop, deliver, assess, evaluate and continuously improve systems education; to promote the adoption and integration of information, information systems, and technology in clinical settings and practice, and to support clinical transformation for optimal patient care. The incumbent works with members of the Department of Health Informatics, clinical, operations, administration, education and research teams to ensure effective application of informatics for service delivery, education and research. He/ She also ensures that the information systems are consistent with professional standards of practice and safe clinical practice.

Key Role Accountabilities:
  • Assesses and plans the delivery and medium of informatics education to be provided to the staff. Evaluates effectiveness of training and training material. Works towards continual improvement and identifies areas of improved education informatics that support enhancement in patient care, education and research.
  • Participates in one or more of the clinical transformation councils, serving primarily to articulate educational requirements, to ensure collaboration with clinicians, health care team members, patients and their families.
  • Supports the development and application of systems education with a focus on education principles and practices, grounding strategies in adult education theory and evidence-based practice.
  • Assesses learning needs related to the digital systems for the specialty areas and individual staff assigned in that area.
  • Plans, delivers and evaluates informatics education initiatives that support improvement in knowledge management, quality initiatives, education and research.
  • Designs, delivers, assesses, evaluates and continuously improves learning (including e-learning) in line with identified needs and planned outcomes.
  • Reviews, edits and provides feedback on the effectiveness of training materials.
  • Supports the identification of new or improved education informatics initiatives to support advancements in patient care, education and research.
  • Administers and manages all systems education in line with policy and reporting requirements.
  • Supports the assessment of competence related to systems education, and audits compliance with Sidra Standards of Care.
  • Documents and reports all education activities against policy and compliance standards including progress and potential problems.
  • Maintains and advances system education expertise in accordance with the Organizations Learning and Development Plan.
  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, informatics or education technology.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

3+ year’s relevant experience in an educational setting.

Preferred

  • Experience in Educating and or using Cerner (Electronic Medical Record – EMR)
  • eLearning content creation (use of Articulate 360/Storyline and or Camtasia Studio)
  • Experience in providing education/training to Adults (understand - Adult learning theory)
  • Experience is creating content in the form of Guides and Job aides
