Department Profile: Diagnostic Imaging at Sidra Medicine offers a comprehensive range of routine and advanced Diagnostic Imaging procedures for women and children, equipped with state of the art technology in a completely digital imaging environment. The Diagnostic Imaging department is made up of the following services, delivered in accordance with best practice standards whilst being driven by ‘clinical evidence’ methodologies, in a patient-centered environment: General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Bone Mineral Densitometry, Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology, Intraoperative MRI, CT, Nuclear medicine, PET/CT.
Job Summary: Working as part of a multi-disciplinary imaging team, the Supervisor - CT , under the direction of the Manager, oversees the operational activities pertaining to the relevant CT imaging service or program to ensure delivery of a high quality Diagnostic imaging service. The CT imaging service provides inpatient and outpatient diagnostic and interventional CT procedures on pediatric and adult patients on a referral basis and medical research. The Supervisor - CT deputizes for the Manager, is the professional lead in their area of responsibility and responsible for the supervision of the technologists and students within the service to ensure the continuity of service delivery.  Through the production of high quality images, the Supervisor - CT is responsible to ensure a high standard of service is continually provided to all patients, parents and other hospital staff as prescribed in the patient care and facility standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Performs and provides an efficient and effective CT imaging service for the department of Diagnostic Imaging. They are responsible for the supervision of CT Technologists and students within the service to ensure the continuity of service delivery. Through the production of high quality images, is  responsible to ensure a high standard of service is continually provided to all patients, parents and other hospital staff as prescribed in the patient care and facility standards set down by Sidra Medical and Research Center.

  • Assesses CT requests for clinical appropriateness in accordance with the departmental policies and procedures and makes decisions regarding correct imaging technique to ensure high quality diagnostic images

  • Schedules, supervises, delegates and oversees CT service resources at a designated section of the cross-section

 

Managerial/Supervisory

  • Responsible for direct management of a designated section/program of the CT service. Ensures areas/programs under direct management are safely delivered with optimal utilization of equipment and personnel

  • Assesses processes within the designated section and makes recommendations to the Manager for possible improvements and amendments.

  • Supervises directly all CT  Technologists and students within the designated CT section for the duration of the shift

  • Identifies resources requirements and informs Manager.

 

Clinical

  • Plans, prioritizes and organizes a range of highly complex activities and projects for a designated section or program of the CT service

  • Interprets highly complex clinical information and acts in the assessment of referrals for CT examinations to ensure appropriate studies are performed.

  • Works independently, performs all routine and specialized CT procedures, and associated responsibilities, as dictated by the workload in the rostered area

  • Utilizes skills to assess a patient’s condition, often acute, and decides on an appropriate method to obtain a diagnostic image from a range of options in consultation with the supervising radiologist, ensuring the necessary patient care is provided to patients of all ages

  • Ensures evidence-based standards of practice with CT imaging are applied to the examination being performed.

  • Provides patient care to patients of all ages as required

  • Presents and receives highly complex technical, scientific and clinical information

  • Participates in standby and on call roster systems for the Diagnostic Imaging service, in imaging areas appropriate to training and qualifications

  • Monitors and maintains stock levels for consumables relative to the service

  • Provides support and relief for department managers as required

     

Quality

  • Ensures that systems and standards that promote patient safety and safe practices for delivering patient care for the modality are adhered to as directed.

  • Provides modality expertise in reference to the CT service, assists in the maintenance and development of the CT service

  • Adheres to departmental and applicable organizational policies, procedures, regulations relevant to the CT patient care team.  Maintains accurate and concise records of all imaging received by the patient using the appropriate systems

  • Maintains a high level of expertise and manages faults/issues effectively to guarantee the safe operations of the CT equipment, ensuring an efficient flow and optimal utilization of resources.

  • Implements directed change to effect continual improvement in services provided, and ensures compliance with all internal and external standards as well as regulatory and legal requirements

  • Develops, contributes, participates and complies with quality improvement programs and competency assessment initiatives for the Diagnostic imaging services.

  • Provides appraisals of staff as directed. Participates in mandatory training and actively practices continual professional development in alignment with professional development programs to ensure maintenance of professional licensure/accreditation.

  • Adheres to and promotes compliance with the hospital’s radiation safety and protection policies and associated codes of practice and takes appropriate action where non-compliance is evident

 

Financial

  • Participates and contributes to the budgetary process as directed

 

Training and Development

  • Develops, contributes, implements and delivers training and development programs on equipment and procedures in the area of operations, in alignment with the facilities training objectives and plans

  • Provides leadership to diagnostic imaging staff. Advises other clinical and students during CT procedures as required

 

Communication

  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized under stressful situations.  Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility and maintains patient confidentiality at all times

  • Attends divisional meetings and other meetings as directed

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelors in Science, Medical Imaging or equivalent
  • 5+ years clinical experience including 2+ years of supervisory experience in CT imaging from a recognized academic institute
  • Eligible for licensure as a Radiographer in the State of Qatar
  • Demonstrated extensive functional knowledge and clinical experience in CT
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving Communications Systems (PACS)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Joint Commission and Joint Commission International accreditation standards and radiation safety guidelines
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of ongoing continual professional development
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
