DEPARTMENT PROFILE:

The Communications Department is responsible for Sidra’s communication strategy, media relations, crisis communications, internal communications, community relations, events, brand, Reputation, marketing, and public facing portals, digital and social media.  The Communications Department ensures consistent messaging and branding across all channels to positively reflect the company’s vision and mission.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Executive Director - Communications serves as a key member of Sidra’s senior management team and is accountable for the communication plan deadlines, deliverables and responsibilities. The Executive Director - Communications  builds and directs a team which designs, implements and manages Sidra’s entire communications strategy, plan and tactics. The Executive Director ensures that all communication activities of Sidra follow stablished standards and build, promote, enhance and protect Sidra’s brand and reputation

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Directs and leads a team to design, implement and manages Sidra’s entire communications strategy which reflects the organization mission and vision.
  • Directs the communications program and is responsible for the overall budget.
  • Makes decisions related to translating Sidra’s corporate strategy, mission and vision in the communication plans and strategies to project Sidra as an excellent service provider
  • Drives corporate strategy and message development, pitch and announcement strategies, to meet Sidra’s mission and vision.
  • Directs the Corporate Marketing and Branding of Sidra.
  • Ensures that the public image of Sidra as an organization is protected.
  • Ensures that all communication opportunities and channels for the CEO and the Chiefs are fully vetted.
  • Directs the team to ensure that effective mix of communication and marketing vehicles are used to execute, deliver and support various initiatives of Sidra throughout the organization and outside Sidra.
  • Directs the team to support Sidra's recruitment campaign through implementation of integrated communications tactics
  • Ensures that the work program for communications is in accordance with the approved implementation plan for the various projects and that progress is regularly reported to COS
  • Develops and seeks approval for an annual communications budget and ensures that the communications program is managed within the overall budget.
  • Keeping in line with Sidra corporate objectives develops, plans, manages Sidra’s communications strategy to successfully communicate Sidra’s key messages, core brand identity, activities and accomplishments to the general public.
  • Directs and develops policies and procedures for the department, around internal communication, public relations, branding and marketing which is in line with Sidra’s corporate objectives and in agreement with Qatar Law.
  • Assures appropriate promotion of Sidra by identifying and securing promotional opportunities both in the region and internationally.
  • Researches editorial opportunities, manages and builds relationships with media in key markets to ensure appropriate messaging of Sidra’s values, mission, vision, guiding principles and service offerings.
  • Directs and leads Sidra’s community consultation project in Qatar in accordance with stated outcomes and reports progress on regular basis through the COO to the executive management and clinical leadership.
  • Develops a strategy to research and evaluate target audience perception of Sidra which can include conducting focus groups monitoring and overseeing surveys, desktop research or commissioning a market research.
  • Develops communication strategy in line with clinical and non-clinical recruitment strategy.
  • Works with key partners at Qatar Foundation, Hamad Medical Corporation, Weill Cornell Medical College and others to identify and execute joint promotional opportunities in clinical care, medical education and biomedical research wherever advantageous.
  • Directs internal communications tactics and strategies and adapts these to team requirements as necessary
  • Provides leadership and robust Communication and Marketing advice to stakeholders for promotion of Sidra brand and services, including leading initiatives personally where appropriate
  • Works closely with external communications agencies, vendors and government entities to implement diverse tactics in Sidra communication’s plan as per the changing plans and requirements of the hospital.
  • Monitors the performance of external agencies or service providers of Sidra and ensures that all Sidra guidelines with regards to procurement of such services are adhered.
  • Identifies and communicates impact of Communications department design decisions on the hospital
  • Develops the team and conducts performance appraisal of staff, identifies training needs and counsels or disciplines staff as required.

Professional accreditation with IABC, PRSA or CPRS or Charters practitioner with CIPR.
