Sidra Medical & Research Center’s Medical Staff Services Department, Support Services, Department of Pediatrics excels at providing a support system for the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional Staff. Pediatric Medical Services, headed by the Executive Chair of Pediatric Medicine, is responsible for all Pediatric clinical practice, research and education across the organization.  


Senior attending physician Pediatric Cardiology/ Heart failure, Transplantation/Pulmonary hypertension is responsible to provide direct care and oversight in the delivery of these services to all cardiac patients treated at Sidra Medicne and closely follow all the quality and safety parameters and bench marks. It is expected that this will include regional and supra-regional referrals directed to Sidra Medicine, as well as adult patients with congenital and/or structural heart disease that may be treated at Sidra or Hamad Medical Cooperation. By delivering the very highest quality in clinical care, Sidra Medicine will serve as a magnet for patients within the borders of Qatar and beyond.

  • Establish a specific service within the heart center that caters to cardiac patients with heart failure, patients with pulmonary hypertension and evaluate patients for possible heart transplantation.
  • Develops guidelines for the care of such patients.
  • Establish Sidra as a referral site for such patients.
  •  Follows clinical policy development appropriate to the scope of service and guides effective implementation of other organizational standards and compliance requirements.
  • Helps in delivery of high quality and evidence based services that are sufficient, efficient and responsive and designed to meet the identified customer needs and outcomes.
  • Provides accurate and data driven advice and recommendations to the Executive line in a timely manner.
  • Helps in the implementation and maintenance of effective record keeping and reporting systems within the The Heart Center.
  • Helps in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards of care that guide in the provision of these medical services (Heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and transplant).
  • Helps in the ongoing surveillance of patient care delivery and the professional performance of all clinical staff within the Heart Center.
  • Helps in all clinical Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance activities within the Heart Center.
  • Sets and achieves targets to drive continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided and initiates actions for necessary improvements for these patients.
  • In conjunction with the Division Chief and Director of Sidra Heart Center and chief of CT surgery, ensures the implementation of robust clinical governance structures and processes to ensure patient safety
  • Is actively involved in research, graduate teaching, and publication in higher impact peer reviewed journals, advising of students and participation in academic services.
  • Ensures effective communication with and involvement of all staff within the Heart Center
  • Works collaboratively with other Directors to achieve broad Sidra objectives.
  • Conducts other duties as may be directed by the Divisional Chief of Cardiology & Center Director.
  • Identifies and coordinates resolution of problems to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Supports the development of Sidra as a world class regional center in the areas mentioned above.
  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies


Sites of practice:

  • Outpatient Sidra Heart Center.
  • Inpatient patient care units.
  • Telemedicine consultation when developed and appropriate.
  • Procedure rooms in the hospital when needed and appropriate.
  • Site visits to referring and affiliated hospitals and clinics when requested and appropriate.


Qualificiations, Experience and Skills:


  • MD degree (or equivalent)
  • Board Certification in Pediatrics  or its equivalent from an accredited Western Board 
  • Sub-specialty Fellowship and board certification in Pediatric cardiology. 4th year training in heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and transplant is desirable 
  • Dual training- Fellowship in both Pediatric Cardiology and Pediatric heart failure, transplant and Pulmonary hypertension (preferred)


  • 8+ years of clinical experience in an academic cardiology program & 5+ years work experience in heart failure/pulmonary hypertension/transplant

 Certification and Licensure

  • Active License to practice Medicine in country of origin/country of training.
  • Eligible for licensure as a Pediatric cardiologist in the State of Qatar

 Job Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Clinical and procedural skills needed to manage patients pre and post transplant
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Proficiency in Medical Research
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
