Department Profile:

Sidra Medicine’s Women’s Services will provide all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology  services, including antenatal care, delivery, postpartum care, maternal and fetal medicine, reproductive medicine and in-vitro fertilization. The care model is largely private. Patients are followed by a named attending physician. In addition to routine Obstetric and Gynecologic care, the branch specializes in pregnancies complicated by fetal anomalies or maternal mental health conditions. The branch also specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic and robotic surgery. Reproductive medicine services, such as IVF will be provided at the Department’s sate of the art reproductive medicine unit in the outpatient clinic.

Job Summary:

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospitalist functions primarily within the hospital to support the delivery of private obstetrics and gynecology care. The hospitalist is responsible for assessment of patients as well as carrying out the care plans.  Duties include, but are not limited to, rounding on postpartum and antepartum patients, evaluating patients in triage and the women’s urgent care, staffing the Birth Center and assisting with surgeries. Outpatient clinic sessions will be available

Key Role and Accountability:
  • Take appropriate medical histories from patients,
  • Perform pertinent physical examinations in adherence with Sidra’s agreed upon scopes of practice,
  • Request and evaluate diagnostic studies as indicated upon evaluation of the patient according to written guidelines
  • Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment modalities.
  • Facilitate the patient’s transition within and between health care settings: admissions, transfers and discharges and complete appropriate paperwork
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
  • Assist the attending ob/gyn physician in the operating room in accordance with operating room protocols
  • Perform designated procedures under the supervision of the attending physician
  • Provide counseling to patients
  • Recognize situations which require the immediate attention of the attending ob/gyn physician or other specialties as the need  arises and initiate life-saving procedures when necessary
  • Adhere to the Sidra policy on documentation and maintenance of electronic medical records

Work will involve shift work including overnight shifts in hospital. This is a full-time position with the work hours as dictated by Sidra policy.

Teaching to medical students and interprofessionals will be required.

Qualification, Experience & Skills:

Education:

  • MD/MBBS
  • Successful completion of a Post-Graduate residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology with appropriate board certification

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology

Certification and Licensure:

  • Valid professional License in the country of origin or country of practice in the specialty area
