JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Nurse Leader supports the Clinical Nurse Manger in leading, precepting and mentoring the nursing staff as clinical expert in a unit/service. The Clinical Nurse Leader is a key member of the interprofessional team and ensures that standards for nursing care are adhered to at unit/service level while working within an assigned shift. The Clinical Nurse Leader is accountable for shift coordination, patient flow, patient experience and resource allocation. S/He is delivering clinical care for the majority of their time.  The Clinical Nurse Leader supports the Nurse Manager to ensure successful commissioning. The Clinical Nurse Leader is professionally accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer
  • Provides shift supervision and guidance to staff in collaboration with Clinical Educators and Clinical Nurse Specialists ensuring that all care is provided in accordance with Core Standards of Nursing Care and established policies and procedures.

  • Provides individualized patient care as per the core standards of nursing care and leads on clinical practice.

  • Coordinate complex patient care needs in collaboration with other clinical staff.

  • Ensures safe and high quality patient care during shift through appropriate and equitable allocation of work to the team based on patient acuity and skill mix.

  • Produces, coordinates and manages day to day staff rotas for the assigned shift.

  • Facilitates patient flow and coordinates patients activities and communication during shift

  • Role-models patient experience principles, provides service recovery, and identifies continuous improvement opportunities as required

  • Identifies patient care issues and/or ways to improve and positively impact on the quality of care and patient outcomes.

  • Supports the Clinical Nurse Manager to ensure each unit has an effective comprehensive unit based safety programme aligned to the overall corporate programmes.

  • Supports the Clinical Nurse Manager in the employee performance appraisal cycle objectively and assists with action plans arising from appraisals as necessary.

  • Contributes to the achievement of cost efficiency savings in the unit and maintains an awareness of resource utilization, exercising care in the ordering and use of equipment and materials.

  • Leads Performance Improvement activities on the unit towards the achievement of agreed key performance indicators as assigned.

  • Supports the selection, development and retention of all staff.

  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies.

  • Adheres to Sidra’s Professional Code of Conduct for Nurses.


In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.





  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or (3 year Diploma in Nursing)


  • Registered Nurse
  • Post graduate specialty qualification/certification


  • 4+ years of recent clinical nursing experience including 2+ years leadership/supervisory experience in specialty area
  • Experience in an Academic Medical Center


  • Demonstrated experience with clinical Information systems


  • Hospital Commissioning

Certification and Licensure

  • Valid professional nursing license in country of origin


  • Meets licensing requirements of the State of Qatar
