Department Profile: Sidra Medicine’s Department of Pediatrics will provide world class excellence in clinical care, teaching and biomedical research for the women and children of Qatar.  The Department of Pediatrics coordinates its surgical services with Hamad Medical Corporation and collaborates in research and educational activity with Weill Cornell Medical College - Qatar.  The level of national interest and support in medical quality, education, innovative research and technology has already resulted in significant discoveries and highly functional research organizations that will collaborate with Sidra.
Job Summary:

The Cardiac Physiologist participates in all activities contributing to the development of the Non Invasive Cardiology services including but not limited to: Cardiovascular Information system build, formulation of policies and procedures relating to Cardiology services, assisting Sidra education specialists with development of orientation and continuing education requirements for Cardiac Physiologists. The Cardiac Physiologist provides specialist technical expertise for the Exercise and Cardiopulmonary Exercise Stress Testing program and assists with the Non Invasive programs as deemed necessary.

 

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Plans, delivers and evaluates clinical education, grounding strategies in adult education theory and evidence based practice

  • Provides technical expertise in a range of cardiac diagnostic tests, including ambulatory ECG analysis, head-up tilt testing and exercise ECG testing.

  • Provides technical expertise during cardiopulmonary exercise stress testing and respiratory gas exchange.

  • Ensures patient safety during direct patient care.

  • Performs interpretation of testing results such as ECG, hemodynamic and gas exchange responses to exertion.

  • Correctly and safety establishes an appropriate testing environment with consideration to underlying disease and functional capacity.

  • Maintains effective communication with supervising physicians and ensure testing results are made available in a timely manner.

  • Assesses learning needs and professional capabilities related to the specialty area and individual staff assigned in that area

  • Designs, delivers, assesses, evaluates and continuously improves learning (including e-learning) in line with identified needs and planned outcomes.

  • Under the supervision of the Manager, administers and manages clinical education and orientation in line with policy and reporting requirements

  • Promotes and works collaboratively in a team environment to achieve planned outcomes

  • Supports the assessment of clinical competence and audits compliance with Sidra standards of care

  • Documents and reports all clinical education activities against policy and compliance standards including progress and potential problems.

  • Participates in the build of the Cardiovascular Information system, becoming a super user and trainer for operational staff.

  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

Essential Requirements:

 

ESSENTIAL

PREFERRED

Education

BSc (Hons.) clinical physiology or equivalent

  • Accreditation in echocardiography

     

  • HRUK accreditation, IBHRE accreditation

Experience

5+ years of experience as a senior Cardiac Physiologist

  • Experience with Cardiovascular Information systems

     

  • Experience with advanced cardiac electrophysiology and/or cardiac cath procedures.

Certification and Licensure

  • Registration with the Council of Clinical Physiologists or equivalent

     

  • Certified Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support

Higher specialist qualification relevant to the field

Professional Membership

 

 

Job Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Cardiology specific policies, testing protocols and guidelines

     

  • Broad knowledge of technical cardiology

     

  • Ability to interpret data and write reports of findings

     

  • Resuscitation skills including defibrillation

     

  • Ability to interpret ECG data and write a report of findings on ambulatory ECG recording

     

  • Skilled in communicating with patients to explain test procedures and give instructions on how to operate equipment

     

  • Resting ECGs

     

  • Ambulatory blood pressure recording

     

  • Exercise ECG testing

     

  • Cardiopulmonary Exercise Stress Testing

     

  • Head-up tilt testing

     

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

     

  • Fluency in written and spoken English
