Department Profile: Diagnostic Imaging at Sidra Medicine offers a comprehensive range of routine and advanced Diagnostic Imaging procedures for women and children, equipped with state of the art technology in a completely digital imaging environment. The Diagnostic Imaging department is made up of the following services, delivered in accordance with best practice standards whilst being driven by ‘clinical evidence’ methodologies, in a patient-centered environment: General Radiography, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Bone Mineral Densitometry, Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology, Intraoperative MRI, CT, Nuclear medicine, PET/CT.
Job Summary:

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary imaging team, the Supervisor - iMRIs , under the direction of the Manager – Cross Section, oversees the operational activities pertaining in the iMRIs Suite to ensure delivery of a high quality and Safe Diagnostic imaging service in an intraoperative high risk environment. The iMRIs suite will provide:

  • Standalone Interventional service for inpatient and outpatients and/or Intraoperative IR and MRI service.

  • Standalone MRI Diagnostics for inpatient and outpatients.

  • Standalone Operation room for inpatient and outpatients and/or Intraoperative OR and MRI service.

 

The Supervisor - iMRIs deputizes for the Manager, is the professional lead in their area of responsibility and responsible for the supervision of the technologists and students within the service to ensure the continuity of service delivery.  Through the production of high quality images, the Supervisor - iMRIs is responsible to ensure a high standard of service and safety is continually provided to all patients, parents and other hospital staff as prescribed in the patient care and facility standards.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Managerial/Supervisory

            
  • Responsible for direct management of an iMRIs suite service. Ensures areas/programs under direct management are safely delivered with optimal utilization of equipment and personnel.

  • Assesses processes within the designated section and makes recommendations to the Manager – Cross Section for possible improvements and amendments.

  • Supervises all MRI Technologists and students within the designated MRI section for the duration of the shift.

  • Identifies resources requirements and informs Manager.


Clinical

       
                    
  • Plans, prioritizes and organizes a range of highly complex activities and projects for a designated section or program that will be performed in the iMRIs suite. 

  • Interprets highly complex clinical information and acts independently in the assessment of referrals for MRI examinations to ensure appropriate studies are performed.

  • Works independently, performs all routine and specialized MRI procedures, and associated responsibilities, as dictated by the workload in the rostered area.

  • Utilizes skills to assess a patient’s condition, often acute, and decides on an appropriate method to obtain a diagnostic image from a range of options in consultation with the supervising radiologist, ensuring the necessary patient care is provided to patients of all ages.

  • Ensures that appropriate iMRIs workflows and safety standards are being followed by multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ensures evidence-based standards of practice with MRI imaging are applied to the examination being performed.

  • Provides patient care to patients of all ages as required.

  • Presents and receives highly complex technical, scientific and clinical information.

  • Participates in standby and on call roster systems for the Diagnostic Imaging service, in imaging areas appropriate to training and qualifications, as designated by senior staff.

  • Monitors and maintains stock levels for consumables relative to the service.

  • Provides support and relief for department managers as required.

 

Quality

             
  • Ensures that systems and standards that promote patient safety and safe practices for delivering patient care for the modality are adhered to as directed.

  • Provides modality expertise in reference to the MRI service, assists in the maintenance and development of the MRI service.

  • Adheres to departmental and applicable organizational policies, procedures, regulations relevant to the MRI patient care team.  Maintains accurate and concise records of all imaging received by the patient using the appropriate systems.

  • Maintains a high level of expertise and manages faults/issues effectively to guarantee the safe operations of the MRI equipment, ensuring an efficient flow and optimal utilization of resources.

  • Implements directed change to effect continual improvement in services provided, and ensures compliance with all internal and external standards as well as regulatory and legal requirements

  • Develops, contributes, participates and complies with quality improvement programs and competency assessment initiatives for the Diagnostic imaging services.

  • Provides appraisals of staff as directed. Participates in mandatory training and actively practices continual professional development in alignment with professional development programs to ensure maintenance of professional licensure/accreditation.

  • Adheres to and promotes compliance with the hospital’s radiation safety and protection policies and associated codes of practice and takes appropriate action where non-compliance is evident

 

Financial

  • Participates and contributes to the budgetary process as directed

  • Insure efficient use of department consumables and equipment to eliminate waste and cut costs.

Training and Development

               
  • Develops, contributes, implements and delivers training and development programs on equipment and procedures in the area of operations, in alignment with the facilities training objectives and plans

  • Provides leadership to diagnostic imaging staff. Advises other clinical and students during MRI procedures as required

  • Provides leadership to multidisciplinary teams working in the iMRIs suite.

 

Communication

                 
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead safety discussion with multidisciplinary teams working in the iMRIs suite.

  • Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and organized under stressful situations.  Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility and maintains patient confidentiality at all times

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Essential Requirements:
  • BSc in Medical Imaging or equivalent
  • Post Graduate qualification required if base degree  is not within the MRI field
  • 5+ years clinical experience including 2+ years of supervisory experience in MRI imaging and 1+ year of Intraoperative MRI experience
  • Eligible for licensure as a MRI technologist in the State of Qatar
  • Demonstrated extensive functional knowledge and clinical experience in MRI
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving Communications Systems (PACS)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Joint Commission and Joint Commission International accreditation standards and radiation safety guidelines
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of ongoing continual professional development
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
