The hospital will include 10 operating theatres, 400 beds, 100 percent single rooms with a private bathroom, a birthing center and an emergency department.

The Assistant Division of Pharmacy provides world class pharmaceutical care to a diverse patient base of women and children of both local and international origin. Our expert staff is dedicated to the provision of world class specialized pediatric and maternal health pharmaceutical care in an empathetic and caring clinical environment.  We provide the highest level of care in both outpatient patient and ambulatory settings in a facility utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and technologies.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Pharmacy for Stabilization works in collaboration with the operational Director of Pharmacy to ensure all aspects of the pharmacy services have been stabilized and optimized. S/he has accountability for managing financial resources related to Pharmacy Services under the direction of the Executive Director - Clinical Activation. The (Proposed) Assistant Director – Pharmacy Stabilization works collaboratively with internal/external groups to achieve business results, integrating the diverse perspectives of individuals of different backgrounds; coaches others in the dynamics of effective teamwork.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:
  • Supports the current medication management program of work through identifying opportunities for improving the current day to day operations of pharmacy.

  • Evaluates the detailed pharmacy operations and systems, including the competency and competence of the pharmacy workforce. This will include:

  • Staffing model

  • Operational workflows

  • Technology utilization

  • Policies and Procedures

  • Medication safety assessment

  • Pharmacy governance and correlation with P&t Committee

  • Leadership of pharmacy

  • Supports the pharmacy and clinical teams in the optimization of the Cerner system.

  • Provides guidance to the Director of Pharmacy on the delivery of their role to ensure pharmacy provides safe, effective and efficient services.

  • Provides guidance on the development of robust processes for the securing of a consistent medication supply chain.

  • Works with external consultants to inform the development of an appropriate formulary.

  • Provides a detailed project plan for the improvement of pharmacy operations that complements and works in conjunction with the overarching medicines management project plan.

  • Provides coaching.

  • Supports the Director of Pharmacy with the hiring, resource planning, cost saving and ensures compliance with regulation of staff licensing and drugs.

  • Supports the Director of Pharmacy with the development and implements department policies and procedures, and ensures that these align with Sidra’s policies and procedures.

  • When required, provides clinical leadership and guidance to Pharmacy Services reports.

  • Recognizes development needs and capability gaps in Pharmacy Services and arranges specific projects/assignments to address needs in partnership with the Director of Pharmacy.

  • Proactively identifies talent internally and externally, including participation in succession planning process for Qatarization.

  • Manages cost savings and allocates resources accordingly.

  • Develops pharmacy operating protocols with the Director of Pharmacy and relevant leadership staff.

  • Is accountable for checking, order sets for ease and error proof ordering of pharmaceutical supplies.

  • Works collaboratively with internal/external groups to achieve business results, integrating the diverse perspectives of individuals of different backgrounds; coaches others in the dynamics of effective teamwork.

  • Works with the Director of Pharmacy to resolve Pharmacy Services issues.

  • Supports the team in preparation for Joint International Commission compliance.

  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory issues, including staff licensing, licensing for drugs that are not licensed in Qatar for formulary and procurement and compliance with appropriate regulations and regulatory bodies.

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Essential Requirements:
  • Education / Training in the field of Pharmacy

  • Education / Training in Business Management

  • Extensive management experience inclusive of Clinical experience as a Pharmacy Director 

  • Experience in Formulary Management and cost containment

  • Pharmacy License from country of Origin

  • TJC, JCI standards Knowledge. Experience with TJC/JCI Accreditation process

  • Knowledge of regulatory affairs

  • Knowledge of literature search

  • Clinical Knowledge as it pertains to Medications and Disease Management

  • Knowledge of regulations and Law in Qatar
