Once fully operational by mid-2018, Sidra Medicine will handle 275,000 outpatient appointments, 11,000 procedures, 100,000 emergency attendances and deliver over 9,000 babies per year, adding capacity to a rapidly growing population and delivering world-class specialist care.

The hospital will include 10 operating theatres, 400 beds, 100 percent single rooms with a private bathroom, a birthing center and an emergency department.

Department: Sidra Occupational health encompasses those activities that ensure the health and wellbeing of all Sidra Staff. This includes four essential components: Work Injury treatment, Employer specific services, surveillance/ regulatory monitoring and wellbeing.
JOB SUMMARY: The occupational health manager will be expected to manage and provide an efficient, high quality Occupational Health service. Ensure compliance with responsibilities imposed by health and safety governing bodies in healthcare, whilst maximizing and promoting the health of all employees as well as reducing the risk of cases of ill health developing through well-being programs.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Plans, develops, coordinates and monitors the delivery of Occupational Health services for the organization.

  • Ensures governance arrangements are implemented and reviewed in Occupational Health.

  • Liaises with other relevant departments within Sidra, including Health and Safety and Infection Control to ensure developments in all areas are effectively linked.

  • Supports the department to develop SEQOHS (Safe Effective Quality Occupational Health Services) accreditation or other relevant quality standards as required to ensure high quality and efficient service based on best practices in Occupational Health.

  • Works with Occupational Health staff and users in developing appropriate literature and intranet site for employees.

  • Formulates, implements and evaluates policies and strategies for health protection and surveillance of staff to meet national guidelines (MOPH) and organizational requirements.

  • Promotes employee’s health and well-being in line with organizational health strategies.

  • Collaborates with ancillary support services in adherence to international standards to plan a safe, environment for staff including the provision of health education.

  • Manages and leads the occupational health team to develop their capability, motivates and mentors them to meet the current and future requirements of the organization

  • Plans and develops data collection and analysis methodologies for presentation and continuous improvements

  • Communicates trends and advises on action plans to meet statutory and voluntary requirements for health protection and mandatory reporting to relevant authorities.

  • Contributes to the provision of training, advice, vaccinations, sickness / absence management, investigations of cases in occupational ill health and general Occupational Health issues.

  • Keeps professionally updated and abreast of new and emerging guidance legislation that governs legal and ethical aspects of Occupational Health practice and uses evidence based practice to guide interpretation of legal requirements and advisory guidance to staff.

  • Manages the Occupational Health budget to ensure adequate resources are available for optimum functioning of the service.

  • Plans and organizes operational activities in response to referrals from HR and other department managers.

  • Plans, provides and evaluates staff assistance service such as Employee Assistance Programme, Medical Health Insurance, Influenza Programmes and Well - Being programme based on organization’s requirement.

  • Provides a collaborative approach to managing sickness and absence and other Occupational Health related issues.

  • Manages and communicates the effective ergonomic systems program, and pregnancy risk assessments.

  • Manages a team of Occupational Health professionals to ensure all relevant annual targets / goals are met.

  • Supports the development of Sidra as a world class regional center.

  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS – SELECTION CRITERIA:

 

ESSENTIAL

PREFERRED

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health or Health Administration

 

  • Masters degree in Nursing or Health Administration                                        

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience at Senior Clinical management level

 

Certification and Licensure

  • Valid professional Nursing license for country of origin
