Once fully operational by mid-2018, Sidra Medicine will handle 275,000 outpatient appointments, 11,000 procedures, 100,000 emergency attendances and deliver over 9,000 babies per year, adding capacity to a rapidly growing population and delivering world-class specialist care.

The hospital will include 10 operating theatres, 400 beds, 100 percent single rooms with a private bathroom, a birthing center and an emergency department.

Social Work provides services to neonatal, pediatric and adolescent patients of all specialties, as well as  services to the obstetrical and gynecological inpatients. The focus is on acute inpatient care, however services are also provided to specialized outpatient clinics and outpatient populations. The social work team works collaboratively with the broader health care team to coordinate patient care across the continuum for patients and families with care transition needs, assuring quality outcomes.

DEPARTMENT PROFILE:

The Social Worker I  provides family centered support services to women, children and families to cope with both acute and chronic illnesses. The Social Worker I is responsible for implementation of continuing care, referral processes, and maintains a strong internal and external customer focus. Social Worker I works collaboratively with social work, case coordinator, other disciplines, programs, departments, and organizations for accomplishment of these duties.

The Social Worker I provides evidence-based patient care by integrating research with practice. Promotes continuous improvement and helps to generate innovative ideas within social work practice. Maintains a commitment to life-long learning and creates, utilizes and/or disseminates new knowledge to patients and their families, the public and other internal /external health professionals.  The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard.

 The Social Worker I participates in the provision of teaching of colleagues and mentoring of students on wide range of subjects within the clinical field.
