Learning and Development is responsible for Sidra’s education functions in the context of Sidra’s overall education strategy, planning and reporting for the organization. Headed by the Chief Learning Officer the division is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating and continuously improving the education functions at Sidra.


Learning and Development is comprised of many related and corresponding functions including:

  • National Career Development - responsible for facilitating the strategic acquisition of a highly capable National workforce, underpinned by best practice programs for sponsorship, scholarship, national development, graduate development, internships, national talent acquisition and education outreach, as well as strong national development policies, systems, planning and pipeline management.  

  • Performance and Talent - ​ to motivate, inspire and encourage employees to reach their full potential. The team supports and facilitates opportunities, where employees can achieve their personal and professional development through My Performance, My Career. Our aim is to foster a culture of continuous improvement, where employees create meaningful goals; develop through coaching and recognize how they contribute to the success of the organization.​​​

  • People Capability - aims to build non-clinical skills, competence and capability at Sidra which will contribute towards building a culture of learning and high performance. The department's aspirations have been translated into several key programs. The People Capability department has three core sections: Hayakum Orientation, Learning and Devel​opment Quality Assurance and Leadership and Management Development.

  • Instructional Design - supports education and training by developing online and blended learning materials for all departments at Sidra. The team has created over 150 media rich eLearning sessions to support staff orientation and continuing professional development. The department sets curriculum standards, development processes, templates, assessments and evaluation tools. Further, the team manages the organization, storage and access of educational materials through the Learning Management System, Curriculum Management System, SharePoint Content repositories and Media Libraries. We research, prototype and share innovative uses of learning technology software and hardware. Our expertise is extended to Sidra staff to support and guide the design of presentations and online materials through interactive video, audio recording and use of mobile technologies. Our team also provides staff workshops on educational methodologies and instructional technologies, as well as consultation for developing high quality materials and presentations.  ​
