Once fully operational by mid-2018, Sidra Medicine will handle 275,000 outpatient appointments, 11,000 procedures, 100,000 emergency attendances and deliver over 9,000 babies per year, adding capacity to a rapidly growing population and delivering world-class specialist care.

The hospital will include 10 operating theatres, 400 beds, 100 percent single rooms with a private bathroom, a birthing center and an emergency department.

DEPARTMENT/BRANCH PROFILE:  The Commercial department contributes to the realization of Sidra’s vision by providing commercial strategic, financial and advisory services across the organization.  Specifically to create the strategic and financial direction and support the Clinical, Research, Corporate, and Operational management functions. The department also works with external partners, government Ministries and other commercial and non-commercial entities.
JOB SUMMARY: The Commercial Development Business Planner provides financial and operational support for commercial program development.  The incumbent performs feasibility studies and detailed analysis of commercial opportunities, develop forecasts and supports the implementation of agreed programs.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Prepares annual business plans and business cases for investment.

     

Development and Execution

  • Researches new developments in healthcare and health services and tourism globally to support the identification and development of new commercial opportunities,

  • Ensures potential services developments are based on clear criteria by undertaking market services gap analysis, activity modelling, economies of scale analysis, infrastructure requirements, etc.

  • Supports Executive Director in conducting analysis of individual proposals and business cases to capture opportunities across the business.

  • Performs commercial analyses to ensure all proposed developments are commercially viable and sustainable considering at a minimum, relevant payment systems (private, public insurance, self-pay), Capex and Opex.

  • Develops mechanisms to capture or enhance revenue from existing programs;

  • Supports the Executive Director in the identification, capture and management of alternate sources of investment

  • Supports legal and regulatory compliance within the scope of responsibilities.

 

Relationships

  • Supports the Executive Director in sustaining effective partnerships internally and externally (investors, insurers, ministries, CMGs, Patient Experience)

  • Builds positive, open and transparent working relationships with colleagues individually and across working groups.

 

Resource Management

  • Support Executive Director in compliance monitoring of third party contracts; monitors and reports against agreed deliverables and allocated budgets.

ESSENTIAL

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field: finance, business

MBA

Experience

5+ years’ experience with progressive responsibilities in relevant field inclusive of -

  • Commercial/programme development in a complex environment

     

  • Experience in project management

     

  • Experience of building personal and professional credibility with colleagues

     

  • Understanding of academic medical centre operating models and international healthcare markets

Experience in International medical affairs and referral programs

Certification and Licensure

 

Professional Membership

 

Project Management Institution.(e.g. APM)
