DEPARTMENT/BRANCH PROFILE: The Research Division within the Foundational Clinical Management Group (CMG) will support the research activities within the CMG. The Foundational CMG at Sidra comprises multiple clinical services including Anesthesia, Pathology, Perioperative Services, Psychiatry and Radiology as well as the Center for Medical Imaging Science & Technology (CMIST). The Research Division will support researchers in the Foundational CMG working on many aspects of feto-maternal health including Basic, Translational, Clinical Trials, Clinical Epidemiology and Informatics research. There will be a focus on innovative solutions employing artificial intelligence/machine learning, bioinformatics and clinical informatics.
JOB SUMMARY: The Coordinator – Research reports to the Medical Director - Research in the Foundational CMG. The Coordinator monitors all research projects in the Foundational CMG to assist investigators with compliance to financial, ethical, biosafety and reporting requirements. The incumbent assists in the development of documentation for investigators and scientists who are involved in various research programs to ensure adherence to internal and external policies governing the conduct of research at Sidra. The Coordinator works with other departments at Sidra, such as Human Resources and Procurement, to assist investigators with the recruitment of research staff and purchasing of services, consumables and equipment. The Coordinator monitors new research funding opportunities and assists investigators in developing applications for research funding. He/ she also works with the different Departments within the Foundational CMG to develop business models for offering research services to internal and external clients. The Coordinator assists with planning research meetings and conferences hosted by the Foundation CMG.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
           
    • Assists the Medical Director and individual investigators in the Foundational CMG to make decisions related to research project activities conducted within Foundational CMG by providing up-to-date and accurate information.

    • Under the direction from the Medical Director - Research, Foundation CMG, tracks all research activities conducted within Foundational CMG

    • Works with individual investigators to ensure compliance with ethics requirements

    • Works with individual investigators to ensure compliance with biosafety protocols at Sidra

    • Monitors individual research grants and funds to ensure compliance with financial rules at Sidra

    • Assists individual investigators in fulfilling reporting requirements for research grants

    • Assists the Medical Director, Research in creating reports to monitor research activities and outputs

    • Assists the Medical Director, Research to identify research projects that are at risk of non-compliance

    • Works with individual investigators and Human Resources to facilitate hiring of research staff

    • Works with individual investigators and Procurement to facilitate purchasing of services, consumables and equipment for research projects

    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of Sidra policies related to research activities

    • Updates investigators in the Foundational CMG on new research funding opportunities

    • Assists investigators with generating documentation for research funding proposals

    • Works with different Departments within Foundation CMG to develop business models for offering clinical research services for internal and external clients.

    • Coordinates seminars, courses, conferences and meetings as required by the Medical Director - Research, Foundational CMG

    • Follows all Sidra-related policies and procedures

    • Attends Sidra committees when appropriate

    • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

 

ESSENTIAL

PREFERRED

Education

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in medicine, naturalsciences or other relevant field

Post Graduate qualifications in medicine, natural sciences or other relevant field

Experience

3+ years’ experience in clinical research and/ or clinical research coordination

Experience in the research fields of machine learning, clinical informatics,bioinformatics

  • Computing/ IT proficiency
