Department/Branch Profile:

The Medical Staff Services Division provides oversight of the quality of care, treatment and services provided by the practitioners credentialed and privileged through the Medical Staff process.  The Medical Staff Services Division assists physicians and other Healthcare Practitioners in providing leadership for the promotion of health care within the Sidra environment, with a particular focus on the health of women and children and patient safety at all of the facilities of Sidra.

Job Summary: The Team Lead - Medical Licensing assists in the daily operational and strategic work of the Licensing Team in order to ensure that Sidra is protected by appropriate licensing for Doctors, Nurses and Allied Health personnel including visiting doctors and consultants. The incumbent provides a high level of customer service and ensures that all candidates selected for clinical positions seek license from Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners. He/ she participates in recruitment and development of Medical Licensing staff.
Key Role Accountabilities:
  • Leads the Medical Licensing team in its daily activities and operations.

  • Leads the establishment and maintenance of a good relationship between Sidra and the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners

  • Assists in developing policies, procedures and protocols for medical licensing of Sidra’s clinical staff

  • Works closely with Recruitment, Relocation, and Government Relations departments to gather the documents required to apply for medical licensing for each selected clinical candidate, including Physicians, Nurses, and Allied Health personnel.

  • Evaluates applications and supporting documents to determine qualifications as specified by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners using procedures and requirements checklists.

  • Prepares and delivers complete Medical Licensing applications including summary sheets to the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners.

  • Completes manual payments in a timely manner for licensing costs

  • Liaises with the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners and follows up on the status of each candidate for licensing approval and registration and participates in Council meetings as needed.

  • Establishes and maintains application files including paper files and electronic data-entry.

  • Locates exam files and requests duplicates as needed.

  • Maintains a log of all applicant communications and processing activities.

  • Modifies licensing policies and procedures within Sidra to accommodate changes implemented by the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners in the Medical Licensing procedures.

  • Evaluates both the effectiveness and efficiency of Sidra’s Medical Licensing operations & activities.

  • Maintains the security of the records of the medical staff.

  • Ensures that the records of the databases are complete and accurate.

  • Participates in recruitment of Medical Licensing Staff when required.

  • Manages and prepares weekly, monthly and quarterly report and as required.

  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

Qualifications, Experience And Skills – Selection Criteria:

 

 

ESSENTIAL

PREFERRED

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Business, HR or a related field

 

Experience

6+ years’ experience in a similar role handling Medical Licensing of staff as required in the State of Qatar, including 3+ years’ experience in a supervisory role

 

Certification and Licensure

  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with Supreme Council of Health, Qatar in relation to medical licensing

  • Demonstrated ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare accurate reports on time.

     

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

     

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
