DEPARTMENT/BRANCH PROFILE:

The Finance division contributes to the realization of Sidra’s vision by providing strategic direction, stewardship and excellence of service.

Finance includes the following core functional areas:

  • Financial Services
  • Reporting, Planning and Budgeting
  • Corporate and Treasury Finance
  • Patient revenue, billing and insurance
  • Business Process Improvements

Finance provides services to departments across the organization and also works with external partners at both operational and government level.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Manager – Insurance manages Sidra's contracts and relationships with Insurance agencies and other providers in the area of insurance verification and patients’ eligibility. Manages supervisors to ensure the smooth operation of the department. Takes part in policy meetings relating to these areas. Makes recommendations as appropriate to the Assistant Director Patient Billing & Insurances.

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Responsible for the overall efficient functioning of the Insurance Verification and Eligibility Department
  • Acts as the primary interface with other departments regarding all matters pertaining to the IV & E department
  • Ensures effective communication with all internal and external stakeholders, including insurance providers, patients and their families and regulatory authorities
  • Responsible for the hiring, onboarding and training of new staff in the department
  • Addresses complaints and resolves issues and problems in a timely and effective manner
  • Ensures staff are kept up to date with any issues, trends or changes regarding insurance and benefits
  • Manages the department’s resources – human, fiscal. operational and capital
  • Ensures confidentiality of patient information
  • Recommends insurance products and programs when requested and appropriate
  • Provides reports to the Director as required
  • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations
  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies
  • Adheres to and promotes Sidra’s Values

 

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS – SELECTION CRITERIA:

ESSENTIAL 

  • Bachelor’s degree - Commerce, Health Information, or relevant discipline
  • 5+ years managerial experience in Healthcare or relevant position
  • Demonstrated experience with patient billing systems
  • Demonstrated ability with patient Insurance operations
  • Demonstrated experience with  claims eligibility verification processes, health data and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Fluency in written and spoken English

 PREFERRED

  • Knowledge of ERP solutions (specifically Lawson ERP), Knowledge of Cerner
