The hospital will include 10 operating theatres, 400 beds, 100 percent single rooms with a private bathroom, a birthing center and an emergency department.

Department Profile:

Sidra Medical & Research Center will provide world class excellence in clinical care, teaching and biomedical research for the women and children of Qatar.  Sidra coordinates its services with Hamad Medical Corporation and collaborates in research and educational activity with Weill Cornell Medical College - Qatar.  The level of national interest and support in medical quality, education, innovative research and technology has already resulted in significant discoveries and highly functional research organizations that will collaborate with Sidra. Sidra offers a comprehensive range of routine and advanced services for women and children, equipped with state of the art technology in a completely digital hospital environment. Sidra is made up of  services delivered in accordance with best practice standards whilst being driven by clinical evidence methodologies in a patient-centered, highly collaborative environment.  Sidra will evaluate and provide novel and upcoming therapies to our patients and participate in the development of new technologies.  Sidra will provide leadership and faculty for the teaching of medical students, residents and advanced trainees, so that Sidra becomes a leader in the education of physicians, nurses and Allied Health professionals for the future. It is anticipated that, by providing specialist and subspecialist expertise in an integrated team environment and concomitantly conducting research, Sidra will become a substantive referral center for patients within and outside Qatar.

Job Summary:

The Technician - Dialysis is a qualified allied health care provider, licensed and skilled who works with Nephrology Clinical Care team to provide different modalities of renal replacement therapies in high degree of accuracy and holds a current valid license issued under a National Authority or Board that authorizes them to practice their profession and use the title ‘Dialysis Technician’.

The Technician - Dialysis is a key member of the dialysis, nephrology and biomedical team. Ensures dialysis unit equipment set up, portable dialysis machines operation in the acute care settings, machine disinfection and water samples are taken according to local, and international standards.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Performs safety test for the dialysis machines before start of the treatment
  • Performs the hardness, chlorine, and chloramine test for the water treatment plant before starting dialysis procedures
  • Sets and prime the machine for hemodialysis
  • Monitors the machine for its proper function during the treatment
  • Monitors the fluid removal, sodium, and ultra-filtration profile set for the patient
  • Monitors the extracorporeal circuit pressure for the clotting or the disconnection of the circuit
  • Disinfects the dialysis machine after each treatment per the unit and manufacturer standard
  • Monitors the water treatment plant
  • Calculates and records the adequacy of the delivered dose of dialysis treatment
  • Sets up Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy machines in critical care areas
  • Performs blood volume monitoring and recirculation study for patients on hemodialysis
  • Prepares buffer solutions as per physician orders
  • Sets up dialysis machine for treatments at satellite centers and in patient units
  • Coordinates the disinfection of the water treatment plant
  • Collects water samples for the chemical and microbiological analysis
  • Provides support for home hemodialysis
  • Verifies the dialyzer and blood tubing with the patient prescription
  • Verifies the buffer solutions orders, conductivity, and temperature of dialysis solutions
  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies
  • Adheres to and promotes Sidra’s values

Essential Requirements:
  • Diploma in dialysis technology and/or approved certification from a board of Nephrology.
  • 5+ years of extensive experience as a dialysis technician in acute and or chronic dialysis settings.
  • Demonstrated functional knowledge and experience in relevant field
  • Evidence of ongoing continual development and personal development
