The hospital will include 10 operating theatres, 400 beds, 100 percent single rooms with a private bathroom, a birthing center and an emergency department.


Sidra Medical & Research Center will provide world class excellence in clinical care, teaching and biomedical research for the women and children of Qatar.  Sidra coordinates its services with Hamad Medical Corporation and collaborates in research and educational activity with Weill Cornell Medical College - Qatar.  The level of national interest and support in medical quality, education, innovative research and technology has already resulted in significant discoveries and highly functional research organizations that will collaborate with Sidra. Sidra offers a comprehensive range of routine and advanced services for women and children, equipped with state of the art technology in a completely digital hospital environment. Sidra is made up of services delivered in accordance with best practice standards whilst being driven by clinical evidence methodologies in a patient-centered, highly collaborative environment. Sidra will evaluate and provide novel and upcoming therapies to our patients and participate in the development of new technologies. Sidra will provide leadership and faculty for the teaching of medical students, residents and advanced trainees, so that Sidra becomes a leader in the education of physicians, nurses and Allied Health professionals for the future. It is anticipated that, by providing specialist and subspecialist expertise in an integrated team environment and concomitantly conducting research, Sidra will become a substantive referral center for patients within and outside Qatar.



The Pediatric Transplant Coordinator - Kidney is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team contributing to excellence in patient care for children requiring renal transplantation. The transplant coordinator’s main role is to coordinate kidney transplantation process and provide medical care across the continuum of care from pre-transplant, during transplant and post-transplant. The candidate is a clinician who makes clinical judgment based upon a synthesis of current principles and concepts in kidney transplantation to solve complex problems. The transplant coordinator collaborates with members of the team to enhance patient care by supporting, educating patients and families as well as the nursing staff.



  •  Uses critical thinking skills and judgment within scope of responsibility for coordinating every aspect of transplant care.
    • Provides advanced nursing care for patients before and after kidney transplantation along the continuum of outpatient to inpatient.

    • Coordinates evaluation process for pre-transplant patients to ensure effective use of hospital and clinical resources.

    • Assesses post-transplant kidney function and general health status and collaboratively determines need for additional assessment or intervention.

    • Facilitates the scheduling of studies or procedures for diagnostic purposes utilizing fiscal responsibility for patient and hospital costs.

    • Participates in the development and implementation of protocols and standards of care for the kidney transplant patient in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

    • Monitors the process and outcomes of routine care to determine quality improvement needs for the kidney transplant program.

    • Provides coverage including coordination of activities prior to transplant with the physician on-call.

    • Coordinates transplantation process including communication between physicians, International Office, Qatar Organ Transplant Center, patient/families and the medical team involved including adult Transplant coordinator, ED, OR, ICU, blood bank, HLA lab.

    • Completes necessary documentation according to the guidelines including listing, status changes and post-transplant follow-up information.

    • Communicates with multidisciplinary team members and patients and families in a timely manner in regard to patient’s care issues.

    • Collaborates with team members in coordinating discharge plans for patients pre-transplant or post-transplant.

    • Refers patients or families for assistance utilizing the community resources as appropriate.

    • Maintains patient transplant record with current data to facilitate communication.

    • Plans nursing care and medical procedures with fiscal responsibility by working collaboratively with administrators, financial coordinators and third-part case managers if needed.

    • Educates patients along the continuum to assist understanding of processes and procedures surrounding pre- and post-transplant issues.

    • Develops patient education materials and identifies external resources that are appropriate for patient education in all phases of transplantation care.

    • Educates nurses and other multidisciplinary team members about patient care issues to promote positive outcomes for transplant patients.

    • Participates or leads team conferences, rounds, or meetings in relation to care of the pediatric kidney transplant patient or program issues.

    • Participates in and conducts research pertinent to transplantation.

    • Consults with unit leadership to resolve issues relating to transplant patients and communicates effectively to maintain positive working relationships and achieve desired outcomes.

    • Supports the strategic plan for the Division of Nephrology at Sidra Medical and Research Center by participating in program planning and management.

    • Participates in unit, departmental and hospital-wide committees, task forces or meetings as indicated by role appropriateness.

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.







  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)


  • 5+ years of nursing experience with at least 2 years in transplant, critical care and/or disease specific programs.
  •  2+ years of experience on solid organ transplant

Certification and Licensure

    Currently licensed or eligible for RN licensure in State of Qatar
