Part of a collaborative effort entitled "one program in multiple institutions," Sidra will work closely with Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and Hamad Medical Corporation in regard to all three missions, raising the standard of health care throughout the country and providing valuable opportunities for research and learning.



The Manager of the Poison Control Center manages all daily operational aspects of the Poison Control Center and supports the activities of the Clinical Toxicology Service with administrative, clinical and educational tasks associated with operations. The manager supervises professional poison information staff and assumes the role of Poison Information Specialist, providing direct telephone support to callers, when needed.



In conjunction with the Poison Control Center Director, Clinical Toxicology Section Head, and Division Chief, identifies and articulates the vision, strategic direction, and growth of the Poison Control Center 



  • Fulfills the following with regard to poison control center operations, educational, research, and academic functions of the poison control center and clinical toxicology service.

  • Assists in the establishment and implementation of comprehensive strategic plans for the center; develops policies and operating procedures to achieve program objectives.

  • Evaluates the performance of all Poison Information Specialists and Certified Poison Information Specialists in accordance with guidelines and poison control center requirements.

  • Provides training to staff assuming Poison Information Specialist and Certified Poison Information Specialist positions.

  • Provides support to internal and external professional education activities, to include training of staff, healthcare professionals, and students; provides direct assistance with teaching and evaluation of students.

  • Implements continuous quality improvement projects to improve quality of service, reduce cost, and enhance the operating efficiency of the center.

  • Coordinates the operational scheduling of the center to ensure adequate telephone coverage; provides direct services as a poison information specialist as and when needed.

  • Deputizes for the center director as required and/or in the director's absence.

  • Provides technical and administrative coordination, support, and problem resolution to center staff, thereby facilitating the smooth operation of the center.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of new and/or modified programs and services offered by the center.

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

  • Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required

  • Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe care for individual patients

  • Maintains confidentiality with regards to any information exchange in accordance with Sidra policy

  • Assumes the role of brand ambassador for the facility and promotes a customer focused philosophy in dealing with any stakeholders

  • Organizes and implements a quality improvement program for the section and monitors and reports on quality initiatives to the Section Head

  • Participates in programs for teaching clinical students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations

  • Facilitates the provision of essential training relevant to clinical staff in the specialty

  • Shows commitment to Continued Medical Education (CME)

  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

  • Adheres to and promotes Sidra’s values


In view of the developing and changing needs and opportunities within Sidra, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.






  • Master’s degree in Nursing and qualified Nurse Practitioner


  • Pharmacist- PharmD


  • Primary degree and clinical training in North America.


  • Completed subspecialty program


  • 5+ years experience in acute care area post certification


  • 5+ years management experience


  • Achievements in clinical care, research, education or administration
  • Previous senior administrative experience in a North American Poison Control Center.

Certification and Licensure

  • Licensure and speciality certification in Clinical Pharmacy


  • Certified Specialist in Poison Information or equivalent for candidates outside North America.
  • Board certification, American Board of Applied Toxicology (ABAT)
