Department:

At Sidra Research and Medical Centre, the safety of patients, staff and visitors is of ultimate importance. Sidra recognizes that strict adherence to best Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) practices and standards, based on sound scientific principles, is essential to reduce avoidable health care associated infections (HCAI) to both patients and staff.

 Standards include but are not limited to, those set by the : Qatar Ministry of Public Health, Joint Commission International (JCI) the Accreditation Canada assessments. UK Standards for Better Health and American Institute of Architecture (AIA) and Infection prevention and control Risk (ICRA) assessments.

The Sidra Infection Prevention and Control Team (IPCT) is devoted to ensuring that infection prevention and control is embedded across the organization. Policies will be introduced in a supportive working environment through consultation, communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ultimately ensure patient safety and public trust of the health care system. Infection prevention and control is central to all aspects of health care and an effective, appropriately staffed IPCT, will ensure that the following aspects of infection control practice are addressed: Surveillance, Outbreak management, Decontamination of Medical Devices, Policy-development, Audits, Education, Training, Product-evaluation, Construction and Research.

Person: The Infection Prevention and Control Practitioner is responsible for leading and demonstrating the provision of safe focused quality infection control practices. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team ensures that standards for infection prevention and control are adhered to at the service level. The incumbent works collaboratively with the Manager - Infection Prevention and Control to ensure the prevention, surveillance, investigation and control of infection, and the delivery of educational programs for staff on aspects of infection prevention and control. S/he monitors and improves compliance with best practice to ensure a comprehensive service is provided.
Experience:

 

ESSENTIAL

PREFERRED

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or (3 year Diploma in Nursing)

     

  • Registered Nurse
  • Post graduate specialty qualification/certification

Experience

  • 4+ years of recent clinical nursing experience including 2+ years leadership/supervisory experience in specialty area
  • Experience in an Academic Medical Center

     

  • Demonstrated experience with clinical Information systems

     

  • Hospital Commissioning

Certification and Licensure

  • Valid professional nursing license in country of origin

     

  • Meets licensing requirements of the State of Qatar
