Department: The Department of Pharmacy provides world class pharmaceutical care to a diverse patient base of women and children of both local and international origin. Our expert staff is dedicated to the provision of specialized pediatric and maternal healthcare in an empathetic and caring clinical environment.  Pharmacy Department services inpatient, emergency and ambulatory settings in a 399 bed facility utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and technologies.
Job Summary: The Pharmacy Technician-Inventory Management position is technical advanced clerical work in the receipt, storage issuance of quality medicinal, intravenous solution, tubing, diagnostic agents, chemicals, ancillary supplies and mail for a Pharmacy. Duties include verifying and documenting materials and supplies received, preparing correspondence, issuing items in response to requisitions, monitoring stock, and assisting with physical inventories. Supervision is received from a supervisor who reviews work for adherence to established policies, procedures and standards. 
Key Role Accountabilities:
  • Receives shipments and verifies quantity and quality of materials; receipts of products and maintains required files and records

  • Monitors stocks on hand to ensure adequate stock levels.

  • Labels with price sticker or date label all items received and immediately put them away in their appropriate areas/shelves

  • Assists Pharmacy Buyer in receiving verifying and filling pricing, logging photocopying and storing all incoming intra/interdepartmental requisitions.

  • Assist supervisor in checking inventory and placement of pharmacy orders

  • Responsible for receiving, sorting and filing pharmacy invoices on a daily basis

  • Picks up discontinued medication, vouchers and requisitions from designated units and clinics for further processing.

  • Routes necessary documents and invoices to appropriate purchasing/accounting personnel.

  • Maintains filing of Pharmacy purchasing documents and invoices in an organized filing system.

  • Removes recalled stock items approaching expiration from shelves by either disposal or returning for credit to vendors.

  • Responsible for charting refrigerator and freezer temperatures to ensures accuracy of temperature controls

  • Maintains neat clean, orderly and appropriately rotated stock with the In-patient, Retail and Chemo/IV Room

  • Participates in department performance improvement projects

  • Performs other responsibilities as required

In view of the developing and changing needs and opportunities within Sidra during this start-up phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.
Essential Requirements:

 

  •  Diploma   in Pharmacy program minimum of two (2) years course duration
  •  Hospital /LTC Pharmacy Technicians
  •  3+ years of experience in a corresponding setting.
  •  Retail Pharmacy Technicians: 4+ years of experience in retail setting.
  • Licensed as Pharmacy technicien in country of origin 
    • Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or carrying boxes.

    • Ability to stand for extended periods

    • Demonstrated ability to work with Pharmacy Information Systems

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

    • Fluency in written and spoken English

    • Knowledge of inventory practices as it pertains to a pharmacy operations.

    • Knowledge of safety practices and procedures applicable to storing pharmaceutical supplies.

    • Knowledge of recordkeeping procedures, forms and reports in a pharmacy.

    • Ability to receive, store and issue variety of pharmaceutical supplies and materials.

    • Ability to perform routine arithmetic calculation accurately.

    • Ability to maintain an organized stock area by keeping it neat clean orderly and appropriately rotated.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

    • Fluency in written and spoken English
