Once fully operational by mid-2018, Sidra Medicine will handle 275,000 outpatient appointments, 11,000 procedures, 100,000 emergency attendances and deliver over 9,000 babies per year, adding capacity to a rapidly growing population and delivering world-class specialist care.

The hospital will include 10 operating theatres, 400 beds, 100 percent single rooms with a private bathroom, a birthing center and an emergency department.

Job Summary:

Responsible for leading and supervising the delivery of high quality evidence-based care; effectively and efficiently diagnosing, managing, treating all patients placed under the post holder’s care. The attending Physician is expected to be an example of clinical excellence within his or her specialty and to provide leadership and training for junior medical staff. He/she is also expected to demonstrate an active interest and involvement in Research.

Essential Function::
  • Supports, implements, and follows all Sidra, department and divisional initiatives, policies and procedures.
  • Help lead, implement, and participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review process.
  • Overseas the clinical activities of the junior medical staff and assume responsibility for the care they provide.
  • Diagnoses and treats patients according to established standards of best practice for the post holder’s specialty.
  • Fosters a culture of learning, development and continuous improvement across the department
  • Complies with all established Sidra polices regarding admissions, consultation, daily patient care, surgical procedures, discharge protocols, outpatient and follow up practices.
  • Practices appropriate utilization of Sidra’s resources.
  • Performs clinical duties and ensure continuity of care.
  • Engages in research development activities with a professional and applied focus in keeping with Sidra Research protocols, vision and strategy.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
  • Leads ward round; assess and reassesses both inpatients and outpatients on a regular basis, in line with established best practice.
  • Regularly reviews results of all investigations and modifies treatment as required.
  • Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as required.
  • Actively participates in multi-disciplinary meetings to help plan effective, safe and holistic care for individual patients.
  • Accepts clinically appropriate referrals from the Emergency Department, Primary Care, other departments, specialty clinics, walk in patients, and patients referred from other hospitals.
  •  Communicates clinical information to patients and the patient’s family and friends (with consent of the patient) in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining confidentiality with regards to any information exchange or receives in the current capacity of role in accordance with Sidra policy.
  • Assuming the role of brand ambassador for the facility and promoting a customer focused philosophy in dealing with any stakeholders.
  • Organizes and implements a quality improvement program for the division and monitors and reports on quality initiatives to the Division Chief.
  • Participates in programs for teaching clinical students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations.
  • Facilitating the provision of essential training relevant to clinical staff in the specialty.
  • Showing commitment to Continued Medical Education (CME)


Qualificiations, Experience and Skills:

Satisfactory completion of an Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) residency program in the United States and certification by one of the medical specialty boards of the American Board of Medical Specialities (ABMS)

Satisfactory completion of a residency program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and Specialist Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Satisfactory completion of a residency training program accredited by a competent authority of a member state of European Community, or Specialist Certification according to the Council Directive.

Other countries recognised qualifications of a similar status that is acceptable to Sidra.

A progressive Clinical & Administrative Leadership experience in an academic health care setting.
