DEPARTMENT/SERVICE PROFILE:

The purpose of the Medical Staff Services Department is to provide oversight of the quality of care, treatment and services provided by the practitioners credentialed and privileged through the Medical Staff process.  The Medical Staff Services Department assists physicians in providing leadership for the promotion of health care within the Sidra environment, with a particular focus on the health of women and children and patient safety at all of the facilities of Sidra.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Manager - Credentialing, the Assistant - Credentialing assists in performing credentialing and privileging functions related to the appointment and reappointment of physicians and certain allied health professionals as assigned.

KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Participates in the development and implementation of credentialing processes and procedures

  • Verifies credentials of physicians and selected allied health practitioners by primary sources in accordance with prevailing organizational policies and procedures

  • Collects all pertinent documentation

  • Initiates correspondence as necessary to obtain requisite credentialing and privileging information

  • Tracks and analyzes verification responses and follows-up on items not received within established cycle periods

  • Investigates any and all “red flag” issues and brings them to the attention of the Manager - Credentialing or designee

  • Enters accurate information into the practitioner database in a timely manner

  • Provides updates to candidates of any missing or incorrect information in a timely manner

  • Provides status reports to the Manager - Credentialing or designee in accordance with established schedules 

  • Reviews completed files with the Manager - Credentialing or designee in accordance with established schedules

  • Supports Sidra medical staff committees as assigned

  • Adheres to operating policies and procedures including delivery of completed work and use of resources

  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS – SELECTION CRITERIA:

ESSENTIAL:

  • Associates Degree or diploma in relevant field

  • 2+ years relevant experience within a healthcare environment assisting in credentialing of physicians, Nursing and other Allied Health care practicitioners

  • Experience collecting and organizing data to generate accurate and timely reports

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate successful discussions, presenting information to groups of healthcare leaders

  • Fluency in written and spoken English

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Working knowledge of the JCI standards for Medical Staff

  • Certification by the National Association Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) as a CPCS or CPMSM
