The hospital will include 10 operating theatres, 400 beds, 100 percent single rooms with a private bathroom, a birthing center and an emergency department.

Department Profile:

The Allied Health Department is a diverse mix of professions and services working together to provide patients with the comprehensive care that they require. Allied Health will provide services to neonatal, pediatric and adolescent patients of all specialties, as well as obstetrical and gynecological patients.

The vision of the Department of Allied Health is to provide outstanding care, rehabilitation, and patient/ family support through the provision of high quality clinicians and services working in an interdisciplinary environment that integrates education, research, and innovation into its model of care.


Job Summary: The Registered Dietetic Technician assumes responsibility for direct and indirect patient care activities as delegated and/ or supervised by a Registered Dietetian. As an active member of the patient care team, the Registered Dietetic Technician assists the Registered Dietitian with patient support, clinical and non-clinical activities, and education as appropriate, incorporating the principles of family–centered care.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Under the clinical supervision of the Registered Dietitian (I & II), the Registered Dietetic Technician is responsible to:
    • Assist the Registered Dietitian in providing total individualized patient care according to the core standards of patient care and established policies and evidence based practices;
    • Participates  in the Nutrition Care Process as determined by the Registered Dietitian for nutrition assessment, developing and implementing nutrition intervention(s) such as providing individual or group nutrition education, and monitoring and evaluating of the patient’s progress;
    • Enhances the quality of care through observation and communication with members of the health care team;
    • Assists with record keeping, maintenance of equipment and supplies, and general patient care needs;
  • Prepares and maintains a safe, inviting, and developmentally responsive environment appropriate for patients and families
  • Assists in the implementation of therapeutic programs designed to meet the physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs of hospitalized children
  • Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with children and families
  • Facilitates structured group activities to foster peer interaction and socialization
  • Assists with special projects and activities for special occasions and holidays as appropriate
  • Acts as a team member to achieve family centered care
  • Provides ongoing information to families about services available
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in the use of all resources
  • Advocates for the needs of children and families while performing duties
  • Ensures that infection control procedures are adhered to at all times and provides assistance to the Department in this regard. This would include wiping down table surfaces, toy washing, and acting as liaison with Housekeeping and Infection Control staff
  • Maintains general stock levels and orders stock and non-stock supplies
  • Reports any identified risks/ safety issues to Supervisor - Clinical Nutrition and Dietetic Services
  • Assists in keeping the department tidy and clean
  • Educates children/ families, students and health care professionals
  • Supervises and evaluates Registered Dietetic Technician students and volunteers as required
  • Demonstrates trans-cultural principles in dietetic practice
  • Actively participates in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication and teamwork
  • Treats colleagues, patients, and visitors with dignity and respect at all times
  • Actively welcomes and provides support for new staff/ students to the unit. Contributes to the retention of all staff to meet the service specific turnover rate goal. Participates in retention activities

In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this  early operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

Essential Requirements:
  • Associates' or Baccalaureate Degree or Diploma (minimum 2 years) in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field from an accredited program
  • 2+ years of experience as a Dietetic Technician or similar responsibility in a hospital setting
  • Current Dietetic Technician Certification from Country of Origin, or eligible for licensure in Qatar
  • Demonstrated knowledge of dietetic principles and practices including: nutrition, therapeutic diets, food safety and sanitation
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and integrate knowledge and skills into practice
  • Knowledge of record keeping, interviewing and counseling techniques
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently, following directions from Supervisor
  • Demonstrates family-centered care
  • Demonstrated ability to organize time and manage fluctuating clinical responsibilities
