The hospital will include 10 operating theatres, 400 beds, 100 percent single rooms with a private bathroom, a birthing center and an emergency department.

JOB SUMMARY: The Technologist II - Pediatric Pulmonary Function Laboratory, performs Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities of both inpatient and outpatient Pulmonary Function Services while ensuring compliance with ATS, ERS, and Qatar National Standards. The Technologist II participates in the development of protocols and policies related to medical devices, as well as staff training and orientation in approved use and utilization of these devices.  The Technologist II is an advanced practitioner in Pediatric Pulmonary Function studies and is responsible for the performance of simple through complex PFT procedures and studies.  The Technologist II-Pediatric Pulmonary Function Laboratory will act as a Preceptor and mentor to more junior staff and participate in education activities.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Performs simple through to complex Pulmonary Function, Allergy Testing, and physician directed Pulmonary Diagnostic Procedures as required
  • Participates as required in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of Pulmonary Function staff as requested
  • Assists in the provision of technical leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental goals and objectives
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities of the PFT Laboratory in-line with standards as set out by the American Thoracic Society (ATS), European Respiratory Society (ERS), and Qatar National Standards
  • Participates and provides input for staff evaluations for junior & new staff prior to completion of probationary period and ongoing
  • Under the direction of the Manager - Pediatric Pulmonary Function Laboratory ensures adherence to the ATS, ERS, and Qatar National Standards to ensure a safe, professional, and Evidence Based clinical service for patients, staff and visitors
  • Assists in ensuring regular Utilization Review of patient billing and consumption of departmental consumables
  • Establishes and maintains working relationships and solicits input from all participating healthcare stakeholders to ensure optimal patient care
  • Fosters good public relations for Sidra
  • Participates in Sidra commissioning activities as required
  • Integrates ethical considerations and processes in all areas of planning, service activation, and operations
  • Adheres to Sidra’s standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policies

 

 In view of the evolving needs and opportunities within Sidra during this pre-operational phase, this position may be required to perform other duties as assigned and reporting relationships may vary.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Education in a Healthcare related field
  • Extensive experience demonstrating technical expertise in the performance of Pediatric PFT’s
  • Demonstrated competence with Quality Assurance Programs of PFT Laboratories
  • Experience with clinical Information systems as an end user
  • Registration as Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) Respiratory Function Scientist (RFS) or equivalent
  • Licensed in Country of Origin
  • BLS, ACLS, NRP & PALS (or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with TJC, JCI accreditation organizations
  • Familiarity with performing Staff Scheduling
  • Understanding of ATS & ERS tests Acceptability Criteria
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
